Challenge: The Thailand Institute of Justice commissioned our company to organize the Women in Corrections Conference 2025 (WICC 2025), a global platform established to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the United Nations Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-custodial Measures for Women Offenders (the Bangkok Rules). This project faced the challenge of creating a meaningful international forum for knowledge exchange and best practices, as well as building a network of cooperation among corrections experts from around the world.
Our Company’s Approach: Our company developed a comprehensive event management approach that fully addressed all objectives:
- Hybrid Event Planning and Design: Developed a conference format that combined both on-site and virtual participation, allowing attendees from 56 countries to fully engage
- Global Speaker Selection: Coordinated invitations to high-level experts with extensive knowledge and experience in women’s corrections worldwide, including women working in corrections professions
- Diverse Content and Presentation Formats: Organized policy discussions, case study presentations, small group seminars, and academic presentations covering all issues related to women in corrections
- Networking Opportunities: Arranged supplementary activities beyond the main conference to promote idea exchange and build collaboration among participants
- Comprehensive Logistics Management: Managed all aspects of the event, from accommodation reservations, travel arrangements, interpretation services, to special requirements of participants from around the world
Results: The conference achieved remarkable success:
- Participation from 56 countries totaling 300 attendees, including corrections experts, academics, and stakeholders in the justice process
- Exchange of best practices through 42 case studies from around the world that align with the Bangkok Rules
- Academic presentations of 28 papers related to promoting women’s rights in the justice process
- Development of concrete policy recommendations for reforming corrections systems to respond to the specific needs of women
- Creation of a collaboration network among corrections agencies worldwide for ongoing knowledge exchange
The Women in Corrections Conference 2025 (WICC 2025) successfully achieved its objectives of raising awareness about the situation of women in corrections, promoting compliance with the Bangkok Rules, and honoring the role of women in the corrections profession. Additionally, it demonstrated Thailand’s leadership role in supporting the Bangkok Rules on the global stage.
